Joe Taslim is an Indonesian actor and former national judoka who broke out in Gareth Evans’s The Raid (2011) and has done his own fighting on screen ever since. He played the mercenary Jah in Fast & Furious 6, Li Yong across two seasons of the series Warrior, and Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat (2021), a role he reprises in the 2026 sequel. He now stars as a journalist in The Furious, Kenji Tanigaki’s martial arts thriller, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival before Lionsgate acquired it for a wide release. Off camera he plays guitar and DJs, and he grew up in Palembang, where he first took up judo because it was one of the few free sports in his neighborhood.
